Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Fretwork Guitar Tuition handles personal data submitted through this website. It covers what is collected, why it is collected, how long it is kept, and how to request access, correction, or deletion. It applies to the enquiry form and any direct contact made through the details published on this site.

Field 01 — what arrives

Data we collect

When you submit the enquiry form, we collect the information you enter. In practice that is your name, your email address, a telephone number if you choose to give one, and the details of your lesson request — the level you are playing at, the styles you want to work on, and the times you are usually free. You decide how much of that you send; the form works with a name, an email and a message.

Standard technical data may also be recorded by the hosting provider while you browse, such as the browser you are using and the pages you visited. That data is collected at server level for security and performance, and it is not linked back to your enquiry by the studio. We do not collect payment card details through this website, because nothing is sold or booked with a card here.

Field 02 — why

Why we collect it

Enquiry data is used to reply to you, work out which lesson format suits your request, and arrange tuition if you decide to go ahead. That is the whole purpose. Nothing else is done with it.

  • Reply

    Answering your message

A teacher reads your request and writes back with a straight answer, not a brochure.

  • Match

    Choosing a lesson format

Your level, styles and availability tell us whether face-to-face or live online fits better.

  • Arrange

    Setting up tuition

If you continue, your details are used to agree times and keep the arrangement running.

  • Site

    Keeping the site running

Technical logs help the host spot faults and keep the pages loading properly.

  • Never

    No selling, no automated decisions

Your enquiry data is not sold to third parties and is not put through automated decision-making.

If a request reaches us, a person reads it and a person replies. That is the arrangement.

Field 03 — the legal footing

Legal basis for processing

When you send an enquiry you are giving consent for the studio to read it and write back. That consent is the first basis we rely on.

Consent

You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting the studio through the details on the contact page. Withdrawing it simply means we stop using the data you sent; it does not affect anything that happened before you asked.

Legitimate interest

Responding to a request you have made is a legitimate interest, and so is running the site securely. Where a lesson arrangement is agreed, processing may also be necessary for the performance of that arrangement — the ordinary administration of tuition.

If you are unsure which basis applies to your situation, ask before sending an enquiry and the studio will explain it in plain terms.

Field 04 — retention

How long we keep data

Enquiry records are kept only as long as needed to respond, and where tuition is arranged, for the duration of the teaching relationship and a reasonable period afterwards for administrative purposes. Anything no longer required is deleted. You can ask for earlier deletion at any time.

The rail reads left to right: a record opens once it exists and closes once it has no further use. Nothing sits in the middle indefinitely.

Field 05 — who sees it

Sharing and storage

Enquiry data is accessible to the studio's teachers so that whoever is best placed to answer can reply. Service providers that host the website or handle email may process it on our instructions. Data is not transferred to third parties for marketing purposes. Where providers process data outside the UK, appropriate safeguards are used.

Inside the studio
Teachers read enquiries to prepare a useful reply. No one outside the studio reads them for their own purposes.
Service providers
Hosting and email providers act on the studio's instructions only, and only to keep the site and its messages running.
Marketing
Your details are not passed to anyone for marketing, and the studio does not run marketing lists from enquiry data.
Outside the UK
Where a provider stores data outside the UK, appropriate safeguards are put in place before that happens.

Field 06 — your rights

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data the studio holds about you, ask for anything inaccurate to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and object to or restrict certain processing. To use any of these rights, contact the studio using the details on the contact page — a plain message is enough, and there is no form to fill in for a data request. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with how a request has been handled.

Access

Ask what is held and receive a copy of it.

Correction

Tell us what is wrong and it will be put right.

Deletion and objection

Ask for the record to go, or for its use to be limited.
